2 Free Fun Nights of Intro to SquareDance lessons are being offered this year on September 19th & 26th, 7-9 PM.
Open to all in the community and beyond.
These Free Introductory Square Dance evenings are designed to allow you to experience square dancing with minimal effort. In as little as an hour you can learn basic square dance calls and begin to enjoy dancing with your friends and others.
While its nice to
have a partner to dance with, no need to worry if you dont
as there are always plenty of people so everyone has a
chance to dance. You also dont need to wear
anything special. Just come with an open mind and a
comfortable pair of shoes and be ready to laugh and have
fun.Since experiencing new things are always more
enjoyable with friends, we encourage you to bring a
friend, or a couple of friends along so you all can enjoy
the Intro to Square Dance evenings together.
New Dancer - 10 Week Beginner Classes will start Wednesday October 3rd, 2018

$50 for the 10 week - Wednesday evening sessions - 7-8:30 PM
Class Instructor: Square dance caller, Don Bachelder
This class is open to singles and couples of all ages. It offers a casual dress, no experience needed class where students will learn many of the basic calls used in Modern Western Square Dance. Prior dancers are encouraged to come as well, as it will be a great opportunity for you to refresh and practice dancing to these calls.
What is square dancing all about? Square dancing is a group activity that's all about fun. It's a social activity done in a friendly atmosphere with mutual respect and cooperation of all participants. Square dancing is exercise. Square dance movements raise the heart rate like a good aerobic exercises should. Its a low impact activity requiring constant movement and quick directional changes that help keep the body in shape. It provides some excellent mental challenges. The music and dancing are accompanied by a caller. This person always announces to the dancers the dance moves, telling them which direction to go and what moves to make so that all the dancers are moving in unity and doing the same steps at the same time. The caller strings together a sequence of individual square dance calls to make a figure or sequence. These calls are the building blocks of the choreography that is danced by the individuals, square dancers, in the squares.
